Buying storage units seems to be the new “in” thing these days, as people look for a quick way to make some cash. The concept of buying these units has no doubt been buoyed by the popularity of programs such as Storage Hunters, Container Wars and Baggage Battles, which all follow a pretty similar format: a group of strangers walk around looking at units (or baggage) and decide to spend a hell of a lot of money on them without knowing what is going to be inside. It could be rubbish, or it could be priceless.

I have always wanted to buy a storage unit like they do on Storage Wars, but the truth is I am far too scared. I can imagine, knowing my luck, I would stare at the unit (which would be covered in blue tarpaulin like all the good ones), believe it’s the one for me and put my bid in.

My bid would get pushed higher and higher until I eventually win, but when I go in it, it is full of absolute trash and I am thousands of pounds down. You see it all the time on the TV show, it looks like they’ve got a car, but really it turns out to be a rabbit hutch with an old hairbrush in it.

However, when three males from Teesside, North England, decided to go along to one of these auctions, they couldn’t believe what they got their hands on.
