14 Jun Meet the Cute New Members of Taiwan’s Police Force
We have all been there. You are going through airport security and notice a police dog. There is nothing in your bag that even remotely resembles anything illegal but for some reason you panic. You walk towards the dog, terrified that it is going to stop you. You look it dead in eyes and try and drill a message into its head: “Please do not stop me, please.” Once you have passed it, you breathe a sigh of relief and quickly walk away.
It’s what we all go through when we see a police dog. However, the newest members of Taiwan’s police force are likely to make you want to stop and stroke them. Say hello to Taiwan’s new K-9 squad!
That’s right, Taiwan have hired the cutest police officers in the world. Imagine seeing this lot at the airport. You would be more than happy to stop for them. Sadly, their job is not just to be adorable as they are actually set to have a very important role in keeping the country safe. The litter of six puppies will be trained up by the National Police Agency (NPA) and will join the K-9 Anti Bomb and Drug unit based in Taipei.
The Puppies, who the NPA say were born on May 9 2017, are named Schumann, Lucky Star, Full Moon, Feida, Brother and AJ. They come from a policing background with their mother, Yellow, being one of 22 senior dogs in the K-9 unit.
The NPA are hopeful that they will follow their mother’s footsteps into the world of policing and have released a statement through Facebook saying: “We hope that in the future the puppies can be like their mother Yellow, that they can pass through training successfully and enter the police force.” Judging by the picture above, this little guy (Lucky Star) already looks the part.
