10 Jul Marylin Manson Reveals Childhood Photo In Memory Of His Late Father
If there’s one artist woking in the music industry today who boasts a vast disparity between his onstage persona and his real-life personality, it’s probably Marylin Manson. Manson is probably one of the most influential and famous artists working in industrial metal, and his controversial lyrics and bizarrely gothic appearance have polarised listeners for years. You either find his challenge of American cultural values inspiring and insightful, or are revolted and disturbed my the content of his music.
Either way, Manson’s legions of devoted fans are renowned for their loyalty towards the legend himself, and quickly leapt to his defence when his music was unjustifiably blamed by a sensationalist media for inspiring the infamous Columbine shooting, perpetrated by Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.
But Manson is also known for being a study in contrasts. While his music is often graphic, shocking and cynical, underneath the make-up and costumes Manson (real name Brian Warner) is well known in the industry for being warm-hearted, intelligent, caring and empathetic. In a famous MTV interview, Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher stated that he “liked everything about the man except his music,” and when interviewed by Michael Moore in his documentary Bowling for Columbine, Manson compassionately stated that people should’ve reached out to the two perpetrators rather than brand them as evil.
If you wanted any more evidence of what great guy he really is, then look for further than the following story. This week, Manson’s elderly father Hugh Warner passed away. The cause of death has not been made public, but Manson took the time to post an emotional tribute to the loving man who raised him on social media.
