19 Feb Man’s Tweet Comparing Gun Control And Abortion Went Viral For Very Obvious Reason
In the wake of the Flordia shooting which left 17 high school students dead, people are taking to social media to voice their opinions on gun control. People have had enough of the gun violence in the United States and are wondering what it will take for lawmakers to take human lives seriously.
However, the far right is arguing against gun control, citing that the 2nd amendment and the right to bear arms must be upheld.
This is the same rightwing conservative sector that generally also holds anti-abortion views, but now one man on Twitter is using those beliefs to burst a huge hole in their anti-gun control stance.
In 2017, there were 346 mass shooting in the US. That’s nearly one for every day of the year. This type of violence does not happen in other countries. Take London, for example. It’s a huge metropolitan city with its share of terror-related incidents.
However, London has strict gun control laws, so mass shootings are extremely rare. Last summer, when three men attempted to kill people with knives in a large market, only seven people lost their lives.
Compare this to the Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut where 27 children lost their lives in mere minutes. The use of semi-automatic weapons in particular and extremely easy access to firearms is killing innocent people.
