09 Feb Man Says He Wants To Punch A Feminist In The Face And Instantly Regrets It

For the last decade, feminism has been the biggest talking point on the internet – although “talking point” is probably putting it mildly. In actual fact, anything remotely related to feminism is turned into a vicious debate with both sides stubbornly clinging to their own viewpoints.

Feminists are often accused of viewing women as the “victim” in every circumstance and ignoring the fact that men get the raw end of the deal in some instances.

Critics of feminism also very rightly point out that men’s issues (such as the social stigma surrounding mental health illnesses for males) are often outright ignored.

There’s also the widely-used “role-reversal” argument that goes a little something like, “if a man did that (as opposed to a woman) all hell would break loose”.

There’s definitely a discussion to be had when it comes to eradicating double standards in all areas. But unfortunately, anti-feminists – many of whom are so-called “meninists” – spend much of their time on the web trying to “own” or “destroy” feminists.

Rekt Feminist Videos, for instance, is a verified page on YouTube which specializes in these types of videos. Take a look at one of their most popular videos below:

While these meninists claim to hate feminism and all it stands for, they clearly get a lot of enjoyment out of talking about, thinking about and breathing all things feminism.

This particular viral story started with a Tumblr post from someone we can all assume was an ill-informed meninist, but according to @itzzkait, it is “the best post” she’d ever seen:

So what was so great about this post? Well, you’ll be pleased to know it was dramatic, ultra-aggressive and hypocritical all in one.

So Tumblr user true-blue-brit (who has since deleted his page) assures his followers that he wouldn’t dream of “hurting” a lady, but that he would happily “punch a feminist”.

You see, what this guy clearly forgot is that feminists come in all shapes, sizes and genders. Despite the many negative portrayals in the media, a feminist is simply any person who believes women and men should have the SAME rights. And if you don’t believe in that, then you’re just a d*ck.

Now, the feminists of Tumblr and Twitter could have used the old role-reversal argument to their advantage. For example, “Imagine if a feminist said they’d happily punch a meninist, people would cry ‘double standards’ and make endless ‘Legend destroys feminist’ videos”.

But there was none of that and actually people generally just tried to see the humorous side in it all. In fact, feminists from all over the world tried to take true-blue-brit up on his offer for a punch-up, in jest of course.
