Man Paralyzed From The Waist Down Brings Katy Perry To Tears When He Starts To Sing

We all have dreams, aspirations, and passions that we desperately hope to achieve at some point in our lives. For many, our goals can seem almost unachievable so we may give up on them in the process. However, those of us who are determined and thick-skinned enough will continue until the bitter end.

One man with this drive and passion is David Francisco, who has wanted to be a musician for as long as he could remember.

Being the determined man that he is, he decided to move to Nashville to make his dreams a reality. Now that he was based in a city famed for its music history, he thought his aspirations of a career in the industry would be much easier to attain. However, he soon found the complete opposite to be true.

Not long after making the move to Nashville, David was tragically caught up in a car accident. The aspiring musician was riding his bike at the time and a driver crashed into him after running a red light. The collision knocked David unconscious and as a result, he woke up at the hospital with life-changing injuries and in utter shock.

Following the accident, David was left paralyzed from the waist down and consequently began to spiral into a deep depression. He knew that from now on, his life would never be the same again. He believed it had changed for the worse, but little did he know there was a light at the end of the seemingly never-ending tunnel.

“I thought everything’s over,” he explained to ABC. “Music’s over. Relationships are over. I cried every single day for months.” In the midst of his depression, David felt determined not to give in and wallow in self-pity for the rest of his life. He went to great lengths to heal himself physically, mentally and emotionally.

In the process, David found it in his heart to forgive the driver who had caused the accident, something that many people would extremely difficult if not impossible to do. Following advice from his doctor, he decided to start attending physical therapy sessions and did everything he could to train his body back to mobility. After much blood, a lot of sweat and endless tears, David’s hard work finally began to pay off.

“I’m in bed one night, and I see my foot move, just a little,” he explained. “Within the next two-three months, I had a lot of improvement. And that continues to today, really. I don’t take anything for granted.”

Soon enough, things started to look brighter in other aspects of his life – an old friend called Christie reached out to him. She supported David throughout his mobility training, gave him plenty of hope and eventually became the love of his life. The loved-up pair ultimately got married and are extremely happy together.

However, David still found himself with a burning passion to pursue music so he decided to audition for American Idol.

When he was there, David wowed the judges with his rendition of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Isn’t She Lovely’, and was, of course, put through to the next round.

What David has managed to overcome since the unfortunate accident is nothing short of extraordinary. It just goes to show that with enough perseverance and passion, the opportunities are endless.

We wish him all the health and happiness with his future and hope he goes far in his pursuit of a music career.
