When Barack Obama stepped foot in the White House in 2009, his life changed dramatically. So naturally, his two daughters, Malia and Sasha, were destined for an existence that was far cry from their once quiet suburban life in Chicago.

Despite being the first presidential children to grow up under the glare of not only the paparazzi but every citizen’s smartphone, they managed to keep a low profile – which is more than can be said for their predecessors, Barbara and Jenna Bush.

However, as Obama began to relax as his second term came to an end so did his eldest daughter 19-year-old Malia.

Clearly oblivious to the fact that her father’s exit from the Oval Office meant she wasn’t protected from the paparazzi any longer, she brazenly chuffed on a suspicious looking cigarette at the Lollapalooza music festival.

This indiscretion was caught on camera by a festival-goer, who decided to sell the footage for some quick cash.

It soon became front page news, with the then 18-year-old Malia victimized for simply having some juvenile fun with her friends – after all, her father has admitted to dabbling with illegal substances in his youth.

The First Family didn’t comment on the scandal. Instead, a defiant Malia stepped out into another festival shortly afterward wearing what appeared to be a homemade shirt reading “Smoking Kills” – an explicit reference to her past indiscretion.

Before the press could begin to stalk the teen, who is still protected by the Secret Service, she left Washington to study at the prestigious Harvard University, and this week she was spotted locking lips with a fellow student…
