Macaulay Culkin is having something of a comeback. After a particularly rough patch in which he was dogged by allegations of alcohol and drug abuse, the former child star is blossoming into quite the celebrity personality.

His rise and brutally quick fall from fame in the ’90s, combined with his controversial friendship with Michael Jackson, have ensured that Culkin is, and always will be, relevant.

Whilst most child stars remain confined to the films that made them household names, Culkin is finally being given the opportunity to leave his Home Alone character behind him – better late than never considering that 25 years have passed since the first film in the hugely popular franchise was released.

Now 37-years-old and “retired” from acting, Culkin has gone rogue. Over the past year, he has given multiple candid interviews in which he has discussed his eerily intimate relationship with Michael Jackson and his platonic relationship with Jackson’s daughter Paris, whom he is godfather to.

He has also been bizarrely open about his one-year relationship with girlfriend Brenda Song, whom he credits for his healthy transformation. Meanwhile, he has become an active social media user, taking to Instagram to mock the Oscars last month.
