Following the birth of her and Kanye West’s third child, Chicago, last month, Kim Kardashian has been causing a lot of controversy on social media with her racy Instagram pictures. The 37-year-old is no stranger to showing off her assets, but people believe she has now taken it too far.

She didn’t take her latest racy photograph herself, but allowed her four-year-old daughter, North, to do it instead.

Prior to the release of this controversial photograph, Kim offended people of color around the world with her hair. She decided to get a popular African hairstyle, cornrows. However, instead of calling the hairstyle by its correct name, she referred to it as “Bo Dereck” braids.

Kim K’s decision to call her cornrows “Bo Dereck” braids is a reference to their appearance in the popular 1979 movie, 10, which, for the first time in history, popularized the look for white women when they were worn by actress Bo Derek.

Despite being the mother of three biracial children, Kim failed to acknowledge the history of cornrows. They were particularly important when many black people were enslaved – becoming a small part of their culture which they used to show resistance to their white oppressors.

Her latest racy picture, however, is arguably causing more controversy than her appropriation of black culture because it was taken by four-year-old daughter North.

Reactions to the picture have been incredibly polarized. Many of Kim’s 107 million followers have interpreted it as completely innocent, while others condemned her for allowing a child so young to be exposed to the very adult world of seductive snaps.
