Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have announced the birth of their third child, a girl, via a surrogate this morning. The 31-year-old decided to have her third child via a surrogate because of complications during her first two pregnancies.

The reality star and her 40-year-old rapper husband have been married since 2014, having begun a relationship in 2012. They welcomed their first child, North, in June 2013 and their second child, Saint, in December 2015.

“I think it is so much harder to go through it this way because you are not really in control,” Kim recently told Entertainment Tonight.

“And, you know, obviously, you pick someone that you completely trust and that you have a good bond and relationship with, but it is still… knowing that I was able to carry my first two babies and not, you know, my baby now, it’s hard for me.”
