08 Dec Kevin Spacey ‘Groped’ Royal Under The Table At A Nobel Peace Prize Concert
As 2017 began, Kevin Spacey probably thought it was his year to shine. The 58-year-old actor was busy promoting Baby Driver, one of 2017’s highest-grossing films, while also shooting the sixth season of Netflix’s smash hit series, House of Cards, in which he played the lead role, alongside co-star Robin Wright.
The Academy Award-winning actor must have been feeling quite smug. Not only had he managed to maintain a successful career in the notoriously difficult Hollywood movie industry, but he’d also managed to avoid any scandal – which is arguably more impressive considering the industry’s obsession with controversy.
Without a crystal ball, Spacey couldn’t have known that 2017 would actually be the year that he was outed to the world, in more ways than one, after multiple allegations of his sexually inappropriate behavior hit the headlines.
As women around the world came out against movie executive Harvey Weinstein, in one of the biggest shake-ups to hit the industry since Roman Polanski became a fugitive, Spacey began to sweat, for he must have known that it was only a matter of minutes before his name joined the ranks of disgraced entertainers.
So when Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp alleged that a 26-year-old Spacey had made a sexual advance to him in 1986, when he was just 14-years-old, Spacey appeared with a well-drafted statement which he hoped would conceal his bad behavior.
