27 Nov Kensington Palace Have Confirmed The Engagement Of Prince Harry And Meghan Markle
If you were hoping to find Prince Harry in your stocking this Christmas, then you’ll be bitterly disappointed to learn that the 33-year-old Playboy Prince – who has been the United Kingdom’s most eligible bachelor for some time – is no longer available.
Like all the most popular gifts, Prince Harry is sold out and likely to never be back in stock.
In a statement released by Clarence House on behalf of Harry’s father, Prince Charles, it was confirmed that the fifth in line to the British throne is to marry 36-year-old American actress, Meghan Markle, who he has been dating for the past 18 months.
“His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle,” the statement, which was posted to Kensington Palace’s Twitter page, reads.
“The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.”
“His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month,” the statement continued. “Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty the Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents.”
Knowing that his love life was under extreme scrutiny, Prince Harry initially tried to keep his relationship with Markle a secret for as long as possible, especially as he knew it would raise more than a few eyebrows because she is a divorcee.
