21 May Katy Perry Controversially Slams Meghan Markle’s Wedding Dress

The wedding of the year has officially been and gone, and now people are analyzing its every minute detail. What Royal protocol did Harry and Meghan break with their progressive wedding? Why on Earth was the Prince’s ex Chelsey Davis there? And perhaps most pertinently of all – who had the better dress, Meghan or Kate?

After all, although both commoners, Kate was marrying the future King of England Meghan was not, something said to be reflected by her comparatively understated dress.

For her fairytale wedding to the sixth in line to the throne, 36-year-old Meghan wrote a Givenchy dress, which was a traditional bridal white with a nipped waist, long sleeves, and bateau neckline.

When describing the dress, Kensington Palace said, “The dress epitomizes a timeless minimal elegance referencing the codes of the iconic House of Givenchy and showcasing the expert craftsmanship of its world-renowned Parisian couture atelier founded in 1952.”

“True to the heritage of the house, the pure lines of the dress are achieved using six meticulously placed seams. The focus of the dress is the graphic open bateau neckline that gracefully frames the shoulders and emphasizes the slender sculpted waist.

“The lines of the dress extend towards the back where the train flows in soft round folds cushioned by an underskirt in triple silk organza. The slim three-quarter sleeves add a note of refined modernity.”

While Meghan’s dress might have been designed to ba classic, it was certainly not to the liking of pop royalty, 33-year-old Katy Perry, who did not hold back when asked what she thought of Meghan’s dress in an interview with ET‘s Lauren Zima.
