Jonah Hill has been one of the most well-respected actors of the last decade, and this is particularly the case for his work in the comedy genre. He brought millions of people to laughter in movies such as Superbad and Get Him To The Greek, where he has often assumed the role of a chubby youngster.

But the 34-year-old actor has also shown an immense versatility in his acting, through his involvement in movies where he has taken on more serious roles.

Yes, Hill has shown just how adaptable he is as a performer, in movies such as Moneyball (2011) and Wolf Of Wall Street (2013) – the man is clearly no one-trick pony.

And so dedicated is Hill to his craft that, throughout his career, he has been known to either gain or shed the pounds wherever the role has demanded for it.

Jonah Hill made the world do a collective double-take with this epic transformation:

In 2017, we were impressed by how rapidly he had lost weight after piling it on for 2016’s War Dog.

Later that year, Hill shocked us with an even slenderer appearance, a look that he attained for his role in Netflix original series, Maniac.

But, let me tell you, you’ve seen nothing yet because Hill’s most impressive transformation yet, has only recently been unveiled on his brand new Instagram account.

Yes, the actor recently joined Instagram but no one was prepared for the stunner that was his very first upload.

The photo features Hill showing off his bulging biceps while filming the coming-of-age movie, Mid 90’s, AKA his feature-length directorial debut.

Of course, fans of the actor-turned-director took no time in rushing to Twitter to share their thoughts on Hill’s impressive transformation.

The reaction from fans varied from sheer amazement to immense curiosity – a number of Twitter users went as far as to ask for weight loss advice from the actor.

 

Another example of one of Hill’s unrecognizable transformations is his portrayal of the flamboyant and spiritual Donnie in Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot. 

He looked uncannily similar to Kurt Cobain, Nirvana’s late frontman, in the trailer for the movie.

In the clip, the actor has long blond locks, a beard, and a checkered shirt and looks incredibly different from his usual self.

And, of course, the Twitter users from around the world couldn’t stop themselves from weighing in on yet another of his epic transformations.

The movie is based on the autobiography of John Callahan – a controversial cartoonist who was left paralyzed following a car accident. Jonah plays a character who attempts to get Callahan to sober up. The movie has received criticism for casting Joaquin Phoenix to play a disabled character, although the role could easily have gone to a lesser known actor who has a genuine disability.

In response to the controversy, Jay Ruderman, the president of The Ruderman Family Foundation released this statement on their website:

“It was a mistake for director Gus Van Sant to cast Joaquin Phoenix in his upcoming biopic about disabled cartoonist John Callahan. The time has come for the entertainment industry to audition and cast actors with disabilities to play leading roles portraying disability. As we enter 2018, American society no longer finds it acceptable for white actors to play black, Asian, or Hispanic characters. It is equally unacceptable and offensive for able-bodied actors to be cast inauthentically in the roles of characters with disabilities.”

Hopefully, as Hollywood begins to educate itself more on marginalized groups, it will give people with disabilities more opportunities in the film industry. And that’s because having an actor “transform” themselves into a character from a minority group is pretty insulting when members of that group could be given an opportunity to represent a forgotten section of society.

In the meantime, we commend Jonah Hill for his ability to consistently change his physique according to whatever project he is working on – he clearly has dedication in spades.
