Jenifer Lopez Celebrated Turning 49 By Divulging The Secrets To Her Age-Defying Looks

It’s a fact that scares the hell out of pretty much everyone that as we age, our bodies change beyond all recognition. And unfortunately, these changes are usually for the worse.

But there are some incredibly dedicated (and privileged) people out there who will do everything they can to halt the aging process as much as possible.

Let’s face it, there will always be the people who – I’m sorry to say it – age quite terribly and those who age like a fine wine. And speaking of aging like a fine wine, there are few finer than everyone’s favorite Jenny from the block.

On July 24th, Jennifer Lopez celebrated her 49th birthday! Okay, so it’s not quite the big 5-0, but still, she looks absolutely phenomenal. The singer and occasional actress looks about half her age and that’s no exaggeration.

She celebrated the big day in the Bahamas with her boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez, and her kids – and boy, did she look incredible.

While they were out there, Jennifer made sure to share a number of pics of the trip with her 71 million followers on Instagram.

In the two pictures from her birthday, an ecstatic-looking Jennifer can be seen holding a bottle of bubbly with her loved ones in shot, including her man. She captioned the pictures, “Current birthday situation… yup.”

But personally, the situation I’m thinking most about is her insanely toned body. I mean, right?

And let’s not beat around the bush – Jennifer is well aware that she has an enviable set of washboard abs. I mean, just before posting her birthday snaps, she shared a pic of herself at the gym; again baring those abs for the world to see (and drool over.)

I’m left wondering how the hell she manages to maintain that flawless skin and youthful good looks?

I mean, she may just have won the genetic lottery but no one could look that good without a decent diet and exercise regime and a hell of a lot of self-discipline.

Well guys, you’re in luck because J.Lo has recently decided to spill the beans on how she manages to look so good at the age of 49. And unsurprisingly, it’s a lot to do with her diet (sorry guys, it’s a strict one).

Now, this one’s not going to come as a huge shock to you, but a healthy diet relies on drinking plenty of water, especially before a big work-out – just ask Jennifer. In addition to that, she tends to avoid drinking coffee and alcoholic beverages.

“Drinking plenty of water, especially before a workout, can help you push harder and get more out of your exercise routine,” she told Hello!. “I try to keep my body hydrated and well rested after every workout,” she said. “That way, I’m ready to hit it hard again the next day.”

“What you eat doesn’t just affect your body; it can also affect the way your skin looks,” she added.

A typical lunch will include salmon and a sizable portion of vegetables. For Jennifer, the best kind of salad will include zucchini, broccoli and capsicum dressed in vinaigrette.

“I have her eating very clean because she needs really good fuel for all the things that she’s doing,” her trainer, Tracy Anderson, told People. “It’s all organic and it’s all very well thought out, with the balance of very high-quality proteins and a lot of nutrient-dense food… everything is fresh.”

The Wedding Planner star will avoid eating any kind of processed foods or refined foods where possible.

And what does a typical dinner look like in the Lopez household? Well, in the evening, she prefers to eat dishes containing lean meats like chicken and Puerto Rican-style pork.

In terms of snacks, it shouldn’t surprise you to learn that indulging in chocolates, cookies and potato chips is strictly off the menu. And Jennifer never cheats, guys.

While most people will scour their kitchen cupboards for anything high in sugar, carbs, and fats, what you should know about Jen is that she isn’t most people. Indeed, her willpower is out of this world.

“I always carry fruit and veggies with me to give me something to snack on between meals,” she admits.

And if she’s hungry for a more substantial snack, she will opt for carbs in favor of protein. “Protein is my go-to whenever I start having cravings,” she told Hello!. “It fills me up and keeps me full longer. It’s a great muscle fuel.”

Of course, managing to attain a set of rock-hard abs, is ultimately done by working out. Yep, it certainly doesn’t hurt that J.Lo actually enjoys going to the gym.

“Sometimes when I get home and I’m not feeling so great, I make myself go to the gym,” she told Redbook in 2010. “Then I come home and take a shower, put on a great outfit, some makeup, tie my hair up, and I feel pepped up and great about myself.”

So, in terms of her exercise regime, it’s nothing too revolutionary – it’s all about maintaining a regular balance of cardio and muscle-building exercises. All in all, just be good to your body and it will reward you in the long-run.
