30 Jul Instagram User Proves That We All Take The Same Travel Pictures And It’s Freaking Us Out
With the rise of Instagram and online influencers, it’s easy to get swept away in the trends. However, it’s entirely possible that a whole lot of Instagram users are oblivious to just how much they are being influenced by others.
An anonymous user, who goes by the name Insta Repeat, has created an account to show how our travel photos, so often intended to be original or creative, are actually nearly identical to plenty of other Instagram snaps already out there.
The 27-year-old filmmaker and artist from Anchorage, Alaska told Photoshelter that “A purpose of Insta Repeat is to critique originality in media creation through the lens (pun intended) of this one ‘genre’ of Instagram photography accounts.”
Insta repeat told Bored Panda, “I have noticed it in general on a lot of different platforms and media and have been guilty of it -myself for sure. Artists and creators fall into patterns. But I think that what is happening on Instagram is more extreme.”

She continued, “I chose the outdoorsy type to focus on because I see it a lot because of where I live but more importantly because I think think the ‘genre’ celebrates a ‘free’ and ‘authentic’ lifestyle that is antithetical to the sameness of all the photos.”
Now, a genuine debate on originality in creative media is ongoing in the comment threads and Insta Repeat couldn’t be more thrilled. Check out some of the photos from her account below and see what you think. Are we really all that easily influenced?
1. Front view of a Highland cow
I wonder if the regular looking cows feel left out.
2. The wilderness shot through a tent hole
Viewing the great outdoors from the inside.
3. A rear view of a woman wearing an outdoorsy hat
It is a popular hat, or do they just have them available at photo stops?
4. Feet dangling over a cliff
This seems to be a rather popular feet-dangling location, doesn’t it?
5. A person in the middle of an ice cave
Looks chilly.

Extra points for the folks in plaid.

Put that cell phone away, mister! You’re driving!
10. A person standing on a vehicle in the wilderness
Perhaps it’s to keep away from the bears.
Big fan of people standing on jeeps? We’ve got more in number 11…
11. A person standing on a vehicle in the wilderness at night
I don’t think that’s the best way to view the Arora Borealis. Perhaps try lying down.

Look, Mom! I’m camping!
13. A person walking down the center of a road
Watch for cars!
14. A person looking off the edge of a centered dock
Nope, it doesn’t look so great for swimming today.
15. A person standing in front of a big waterfall
Yellow raincoats seem to be a popular option for waterfall viewing.
Want to see who auditioned for Cousin Itt in The Addams Family reboot? Check out number 16…
16. A woman with windswept hair in her face
Does anybody have a hair elastic?
17. A contemplative person standing on a rock in the water
If you feel lonely, remember you’ve got a friend taking your picture right now!
18. A person standing on the peak of a green mountain
Perhaps it’s just a really popular hiking spot.
19. A picture of a cell phone taking a picture in the wilderness
So the guy went camping in beautiful surroundings and decides to take pictures of his phone? Weirdo.
20. The passenger side window of a car
In case anyone wanted to know how they got to their destination, they took a car.
So what do you think? Are we all the same or is there something else at play here? Let us know in the comments and perhaps next time you’re taking a new picture for your Instagram account, maybe try something new, or at the very least go for something a little off-center. Happy snapping!
