26 Jul Instagram Model Gives Followers A Lesson In Women’s Rights
Fame has become arguably the most coveted commodity in our society.
Fortunately for those whose wide-eyed imaginings of fame and all of its trappings holds such a magnetic pull, “celebrity” has never been more attainable. The airbrushed corridors of Instagram allow such popularity-hungry individuals to bask in the coruscating heat of fame, mollified by a never-ending stream of likes and #bodygoals comments.
While chiselled Instagram models often rationalise endless photographs spent lounging around on beaches or clutching some fashionable brand of protein shake by purporting to operate in a bizarre sphere of self-help influence, some might argue that it is hard to consider such pursuits as anything other than self-interested.
Which is fine, of course; if you are blessed with astonishing good looks and possess the determination and stamina to get into excellent physical condition, there is no reason whatsoever not to profit from such a heady mix.
If we are to define Instagram celebrity as “fame” – and, in this brave new world that we inhabit, I think we should – then it will come as no surprise to learn that prominent figures on the picture sharing app come in for similar – perhaps even fiercer – criticism from users than genuine celebrities whose achievements expand beyond the world of the app.
One Instagram model, Alexis Ren, knows this better than most, and decided to clap back against would-be detractors.
