18 Jul If You Spend Most Of Your Day Sitting You Might Be Susceptible To “Dead Butt Syndrome”
Some people like to climb walls, go jogging, or head to the gym a few times every week, but for the most part, the most mobile I get once I’m at home is to sit on my bed, which happens to have wheels underneath it. Like a whopping 86 per cent of Americans, I spent the majority of my day with butt firmly on seat, whether that’s at work, on the train home, or hanging out with my similarly inactive friends at a cinema, restaurant or just in front of a television.
If you’re anything like me, you might find that the hours of sitting occasionally result in pins and needles or a numb butt, but have probably thought nothing of it once you get caught up in the goings-on of the day. There is a real issue, however, that plenty of sedentary Americans are in serious risk off. Gluteal amnesia, or “Dead Butt Syndrome”, is a real thing. Yes, it looks as if your butt can actually die.
