11 Jul Hilary Duff’s Incredible Recreation Of The Iconic Disney Channel Wand Ad Went Totally Viral
There are certain things every early 2000s Disney Channel fan did when they got home from school. Aside from actually watching the Disney Channel itself, that is.
Number one: Warming up your vocal chords and clutching a hairbrush in preparation for when you became a superstar living a secret double life like Hannah Montana. It was only a matter of time.
Number two: Practicing saying “oh snap” in the mirror until you sounded as sassy as Raven (although you ultimately knew you never would do).
Finally, number three: Introducing yourself to your viewers in the mirror while air-drawing magical mouse ears, again with a hairbrush. Disney would inevitably need you one day for a commercial and preparation is everything, right?
These three cornerstones of our youth were brought to head in late 2016 when someone on Twitter dug up the “making of” footage of the iconic wand drawing adverts. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, we had an adorable America Ferrera, energetic Miley Cyrus and scarily in sync Tia and Tamera Mowry awkwardly drawing mouse ears in the air and trying not to have an adolescent tantrum while they were at it
One Disney star who somewhat failed at this was Hilary Duff AKA Lizzie Mcguire. The young actress’ outtakes were truly one of the most cringeworthy, yet wonderful, things to come out of the whole thing. Better, some argued, than any Disney Channel original movie they’d seen.
Months later, Hilary has finally spoken out about that fated day on set and what actually happened to make her so moody. Aside from being forced to draw mouse ears in the air with a wand for hours on end, that is. Not only that, but the 29-year-old recreated the iconic Disney wand advert – teenage sass and all – roughly 15 years after the original hit Disney fanatics’ screens. As you might imagine, it was pretty incredible.
