Guy Paid off $110,000 Student Debt in Two Years Reveals How He Did It

College is a wonderful and much-varied experience, a time for the next generation of bright young things to start to pave their way and learn about themselves.

The first throws of true independence are seductive and intoxicating – both literally and figuratively – for the first time we are able to eat, drink and do pretty much whatever we please. Clearly, this is an exciting time for young people, though it is also, undeniably, an incredibly expensive one.

Tuition fees are a colossal financial burden, and it must be said that the lifestyle of many college students isn’t exactly conducive to any kind of money saving venture. As a result, more and more students are leaving their studies richer in experience and knowledge, but significantly poorer in financial terms, saddled with debts that it is easy to think one might never pay off.

This is precisely what happened to John Kapetaneas, a former journalism student who was left with a colossal $110,000 student debt having completed a master’s degree in journalism from NYU. Kapetaneas had $90,000 to pay back in student loan bills, as well as a $10,000 credit card bill, and with interest added, his monthly payback payment was a considerable $1,300 a month.

He can still recall the moment he looked down at his bills and thought “What the heck am I going to do?”
