04 Aug George And Amal Clooney Are Putting Nearly 3,000 Refugee Children Through School
The Syrian Civil War is one of the biggest conflicts plaguing society today, with an estimated death toll of around 470,000 people (with 55,000 of those being children) over a period of six years. Alongside the brutal civilian murder from Bashar Al-Assad, the conflict has also led to as many as five million people fleeing their homes, standing as the biggest refugee crisis of all time.
Across the world, the course of action for Syrian refugees has been varied and hotly debated, but Syrian children that escaped to Lebanon will be safe in the knowledge that at least one celebrity couple is committed to helping them live as normal a life as possible.
We know George Clooney best for his stint on ER or his starring role in Ocean’s Eleven or Batman and Robin, but he’s also served as one of the United Nations Messengers of Peace for nine years, and his latest gesture with wife Amal Clooney shows just how dedicated he is to helping others.
