It’s safe to say that since the release of the new Wonder Woman movie, the internet has fallen in love with Princess Diana of Themyscira, portrayed expertly by the actress Gal Gadot. That’s pretty impressive, considering the sheer weight of expectation on her shoulders prior to the superhero blockbuster’s release.

Up until then, the DC cinematic universe had been flagging, and despite strong performances from a number of high-profile cast members, a number of muddled screenplays and contrived storylines had conspired to make Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad distinctly lacklustre cinematic experiences. There were some who predicted that the Warner Bros movies would inevitably end up as a failed experiment, simply unable to hold a candle to Disney’s critically and commericially-successful Marvel movies.

But, to the relief of all the many fans of the world’s foremost feminist superhero, Wonder Woman’s first solo feature-length movie (directed by Patty Jenkins) has turned out to be a barnstorming success, and has reignited interest in the 70-year-old superheroine. But however good the movie was, it’s clear that Wonder Woman would have been a pale shadow of itself without Gadot’s performance, and the Israeli actress has proven definitively that she’s more than capable of being a leading lady.

Of course, most celebrities would admit that the support and encouragement of a loving partner goes a long way towards personal success, and Gal Gadot’s husband Yaron Versano has proven that he knows how lucky he is to be married to her. This week, he managed to win the hearts of the internet almost as much as his spouse, when a certain Instagram picture of the two of them was seized upon by fans.
