Homelessness is an epidemic in many countries all over the world.
It’s heartbreaking to see the sheer number of people that have no home to go to and no people to turn to in their desperate time of need. And for many of us, the scale of homelessness causes us to turn a blind eye to those who are in need.
Seeing people sleeping rough, it can be difficult to believe that those on the streets have any remnants of happiness left in their life. We walk past them every day believing they’ve simply forgotten what it’s like to feel a sense of community, joy, friendship, and, most importantly, love.
However, now an incredibly talented photographer from Nairobi in Kenya has created an inspiring photo series that highlights love in its most pure and simplest form. Working under the name of Muchiri Frames, this incredible photographer and his team did something amazing for Valentine’s Day in order to showcase the true meaning of unconditional love.
After meeting Sammy – who also goes by the name Blackie – they discovered how he had been sleeping rough on the streets of Nairobi for some time now.
Then they asked Sammy if he had ever been in love, and his eyes immediately began to sparkle as he spoke candidly about his girlfriend.
They had met each other on the streets of the city, and their friendship soon blossomed into a love story that dwarfs any of those ever featured in a Hollywood movie.
Then, the photographer agreed to give the couple a makeover, the results of which are so beautiful they will bring tears to your eyes.

On Frames’ personal website, he wrote:
“Under the inspiration of love in its simplest form, we celebrated Valentine‘s with these amazing souls and came out with great testimonies. Indeed, beneath all the dirt, tattered clothes and slurred speeches there lies beautiful individuals who would thrive like the rest of us if we offered them the opportunities. Love doesn‘t discriminate, here is proof.”
