In the city of Nantes in Western France, meteorologists are predicting record temperatures of up to 40°C, but business has gone on as usual in the busy industrial centre, including public transport in the area. Bus drivers in Nantes are required by their managers to come to work in long trousers, even though shorts would be more appropriate for the hot weather. In protest of the ban, drivers from the French Democratic Confederation of Labour have devised a creative way to beat the heat this summer.
