11 Jan Floyd Mayweather Weighs In On The #MeToo Movement, And Sounds Like An Utter D***
During his epic career, Floyd Mayweather repeatedly made headlines for his big wins. With an undefeated fight record, the Michigan born sports star also became an entertainment personality as talk shows fought (more aggressively than any of his opponents) to interview him.
But while 40-year-old Mayweather may have been successful in the ring, on talk show couches he is completely hopeless. He may have all the money in the world having earned a reported $1 billion over his career, but apparently Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather cannot afford any manners or tact.
How could we forget his September 2017 interview where he boasted of having seven girlfriends, because “having one is too close to having none.” Or that time he told Jimmy Kimmel that he went into the strip club business because he knew “breasts, vagina, music and alcohol will never go out of style.”
There was also that time he claimed not to know who Ronda Rousey was, despite her many high-profile wins, after she challenged him to a fight. In retaliation, the Olympic bronze medal-winner offensively referred to Rousey as “he”.
This sort of talk may be good smack-talk prior to a fight, but in the real world, Mayweather just comes across a bit like a douche.
So, when Men’s Health interviewed the star for their February issue it was clear that he was guaranteed to say something controversial and insensitive. However that didn’t stop the interviewer from asking the former world champion about his thoughts on the #MeToo movement.
The movement, inspired by the sexual harassment culture in Hollywood, has gained mass attention in the past few months.
Aimed to try and end injustices towards women, #MeToo has the full support of many high-profile celebrities. But given Mayweather’s colorful criminal record, featuring several crimes against women, he was seen as an unlikely supporter.
