From hammerhead sharks to sea cucumbers to blob fish, there are horrors in the watery depths below that aren’t depicted on nature programs or whimsical children’s movies. With so much of our planet’s waters still unexplored, there are plenty of thing for us to learn about life underwater, and there’s still ample room for Earth’s wettest creatures to spring a surprise every now and again.

Out in the Netherlands, a group of fishermen were performing a routine catch when something rather bizarre cropped up in their net: a two-headed porpoise. Believed to be the first of its kind, the stunned fishers took photos of their astonishing discovery, and it has scientists across the world fascinated.
