Women love it when a fellow comrade stages an epic takedown of a man who clearly takes pleasure in undermining them. It truly warms our feminist sensibilities, especially in this case, given that women often encounter problems when working in the male-dominated industry of politics.

Women remain heavily under-represented in positions of political power across the globe. In the U.S.A, women only hold 104 of 535 seats in the 114th U.S Congress and whilst this is a decided improvement on the numbers we saw several decades ago, women still have a way to go in regards to gaining greater representation in the political sphere.

As founder of Representation2020, Cynthia Terrell states, “women won’t achieve fair representation for nearly 500 years”. But we’re certainly trying to speed that up, like Australian senator Penny Wong demonstrated during a Senate Estimates hearing where she made sure that she got the attention she deserved.
