24 Jul Father Sentenced To 15 Years In Jail For Kissing His Own Daughter On The Lips

In this current climate, where political correctness is the central focus of the world’s population, it can feel as though there are very few things that we are free to do without judgment.

The modern way means that schoolteachers are no longer allowed to touch their students, nurses and doctors are now cautious of the ways in which they treat their patients, parents are nervous about disciplining their own children, and a majority of the male workforce live in fear of being accused of sexual harassment.

For many, this way of life is essential for the protection of the people. To others, it is a ludicrous way to live, and for one father, it had life-changing consequences.

On July 11, the unidentified father was sentenced to 15 years in jail for kissing his 11-year-old daughter on the lips – a gesture that he claims was perfectly innocent.

The case began last year, when the man’s wife filed for divorce, claiming that her husband had been unfaithful. In December 2017, the court ruled for divorce whilst entrusting the custody of the couple’s two daughters with the mother.

Three months after this ruling, on March 9, 2018, the couple’s 11-year-old daughter contacted her father to ask him for help with her homework. The mother granted permission for the meeting, but after the father left later that evening, she grew concerned.

After leaving, the couple’s daughter reported to her mother that her father had kissed her on the lips, news which then prompted the mother to file a criminal complaint against him.

Describing the incident to the police, the young girl explained:

“I had called my father to come to our home. He kissed me on my lips and I felt bad. He had also kissed me on my lips when I was sleeping with him at my aunt’s house. It was not a long kiss. When I reacted angrily, he had told me I was his daughter.”

She also stated that she believed her father had no bad intentions and that his embrace was “like the hug of her mother”, reports the Hurriyet Daily News, a Turkish daily newspaper.

In his defense, the father stated that he had not engaged in any abusive acts against his daughter before going on to claim that his ex-wife was pursuing the case as an “act of revenge” over their divorce.

Despite this, the court felt as though there was sufficient evidence to rule in the mother’s favor. Thus, the father was sentenced to a 15-year jail sentence. It is not clear at present if the man intends to appeal the court’s ruling.

It’s certainly a sensational case, one which will no doubt change the way in which many dads behave with their own children. But, is that the desired outcome? Should dads feel nervous to embrace their children? Or, is this case vital in helping crack down on cases where children are in danger?

It’s definitely difficult to come to a conclusion on whether this case had the correct outcome or not, because we have all have different ways of showing our affection for one another. One person’s kiss on the lips is another’s pat on the back…
