17 Jan Father Is Deported To Mexico For Being “Too Old” After Living 30 Years In the US
President Donald Trump’s hardline stance on illegal immigration and his preoccupation with border security have been met with much criticism since his presidential campaign back in 2016.
Unfortunately, his strict enforcement of immigration laws has threatened to break up American families with an immigrant background.
One of the most recent stories of this nature is about 39-year-old Jorge Garcia.
30 years ago, Garcia was brought by a relative to the United States from Mexico when he was just 10 years old. However, the father-of-two has now been deemed “too old” for DACA, Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
As a result, it was decided that he should be sent back to his native Mexico. And ultimately, he was deported this past Monday, on Martin Luther King Jr. day.
On the day of his deportation, Garcia was forced into the distressing position of waving goodbye to his family in Detroit, with two immigration agents keeping a close eye on the doting father.
He had known for months that this would be his fate but that didn’t make the day any less heartbreaking.
