Taste is subjective, whether it be regarding food, art, or people. What is sweet to one, is sour to another. Sometimes we push ourselves out of our comfort zones and try something we wouldn’t ordinarily. But, ultimately, we always return to the comfort zone we have spent years carefully crafting.
However, according to a recent study by dating app Type, there is one type of man that women particularly look for. The results may surprise you…
We have all spent hours trawling through dating apps, whether for business or pleasure. The ability to chose your potential partner based solely on their looks is a complicated process, but it’s something that 10 million people indulge in every day on dating app, Tinder. With 50 million users, Tinder is the holy grail of dating in modern times.
As we embark upon the quest to find “the one”, dating apps present potential candidates in the form of an addictive game, which millennials cannot resist engaging in. Tinder alone matches an average 26 million per day, with users spending an average 35 minutes per day selecting their future soulmate.
However, dating app Type, allows users to select particular attributes that they desire in their other half. Thus, saving you time on your quest for love by allowing you to exclude those who wouldn’t be remotely attractive to you. It’s a brutal process, but one that Type claims to be more like the “real world”.
Whilst their selective approach may be viewed as slightly archaic among apps that promote inclusivity, there is no denying that it is effective. “Everybody has a type, find yours”, the app boasts, whilst showcasing the unique way in which you can specifically select particular attributes, such as hair color, height, body type, nationality, facial hair, piercings, and tattoos.
This unique date inputting process means that Type has collated some very interesting insider information, which helps to build a picture of the perfect man that women dream of, and vice versa. The results are not what you were expecting…
According to the survey, two-thirds of women are attracted to men who have tattoos. Interestingly, 64% of women said that they were looking for a man with permanent body inking. In fact, it is not just straight women who lust after body art, those looking for same-sex partners are also heavily seduced by a tattoo, or two.
Surprised by the results, Type’s CEO, Benno Spencer said: “We’ve been surprised just how strong the trends are when it comes to tattoos. So many of our users are looking for someone with a bit of body art – it’s clearly a turn on for both men and women.”
However, the research found that only 39% of men were attracted to women with tattoos. One of those men was Steve Bryson, who explained his preference for body art to Metro:
“I’ve always fancied girls with tattoos ever since I dated a girl at college that had a massive tattoo across her back. I think it says something about their personality, that they’re fun, friendly and up for a good time. I’ve only got one small tattoo myself, but I like girls that have lots of tattoos. It makes them unique – no two tattoos are exactly the same.”
Luckily, for those that do have a penchant for tattoos, it is estimated that one in every five adults in the UK and US have at least one tattoo. So, the odds really are in your favor.
If you did select your other half because of their inking, then why not be inspired by this unique tattoo proposal for when you pop the question…
