03 Apr Extraordinary Footage Shows How Luggage Is Treated By Airport Staff In Japan

Traveling is never easy. It doesn’t matter whether you’re on a bus, ship or train, it can pretty stressful. And, unfortunately, there are a ton of things that can make your journey far from relaxing.

I mean, there are the other passengers for a start, the common problem of insufficient leg room, and then there’s always the prospect of unhelpful and hostile staff members on the journey.

However, if you happen to be a plane passenger in Japan, this won’t be so much of a problem for you.

A video taken in an airport in Japan has recently come under intense scrutiny after it revealed how well passengers’ luggage is handled when it arrives in the East Asian country.

As opposed to the aggressive and careless way our luggage is treated in the West when it arrives at your destination, in Japan, airport staff are instructed to clean your luggage.

I’m totally not kidding – they actually employ people to clean your luggage as it passes through the conveyor belt in arrivals.

The footage has since been shared on various social media platforms and shows how one of the employees wipes each and every piece of luggage as and when it comes through.

As of yet, it is still unclear as to which airport the video was taken in or where the baggage was arriving from; just that it was somewhere in Japan.

It’s definitely a far cry from the shocking footage which was taken at London’s Luton Airport in March. The video in question showed employees at the airport irresponsibly and carelessly throwing people’s suitcases through the air.

Oh, and how could we forget the infamous incident in which an airport employee was charged with 286 counts of mischief when he began swapping labels at Singapore’s Changi Airport?

I think it’s fair to say that Japan has given other nations all over the world a standard to work towards when it comes to how passengers (and their luggage) are treated in airports.
