Being a mom is one of the most difficult jobs in the world. Functioning as an adult is difficult enough at times, but when you’ve got one, sometimes more, young children vying for your undivided attention, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the responsibility.

This is true for all moms, regardless of whether they are raising their children alone or not. There’s a lot of truth to the saying that it takes a village to raise a child and that’s why 38-year-old mom-of-two Celeste Erlach’s open letter to her husband has gone viral.

In the letter, the exhausted mom of a four-year-old and a baby begs her husband for more help. A sentiment which many moms related to in one way or another. Now she is encouraging other moms to reach out for help if they feel the same way.

“My husband and I talk about this topic fairly regularly,” Erlach, who also authors a parenting blog called And What A Mom, told Bored Panda.

“The reason I wrote an open letter is because I know lots of women facing similar issues. I discuss this topic all the time with my friends. I wanted to put it out there to start a larger discussion. I wanted women to feel encouraged to ask for help. I wanted husbands to know we need more help.”

After Erlach’s letter went viral, many people began to wonder what her husband thought about the situation. Did he feel bad that so many people knew he hadn’t been giving his wife enough help? Or did it inspire him to up his co-parenting game?

“He understands the bigger picture,” Erlach revealed, before admitting that he isn’t exactly happy that he’s received so much attention because of it. “He doesn’t love the attention directed towards him, but he knows my concerns and we work on that daily.”
