It seems that only yesterday Miley Cyrus was parading around on stage semi-naked whilst seductively licking inanimate objects. But that was in 2013, and to say that a lot has changed since then would be quite the understatement.

The singer, who turned 25 years old today, has been the focus of much less controversy over the past few years, something which many fans have attributed to her rekindled relationship with 27-year-old Australian actor, Liam Hemsworth.

Cyrus met Hemsworth in 2010 when they starred together in The Last Song. Their rocky relationship was the center of much media interest, especially when a 20-year-old Cyrus announced that they were engaged in 2012.

However, the following year they publicly ended their engagement to focus on their careers.

Cyrus shook up the music industry with her provocative performances (who can forget the foam finger incident?!), while Hemsworth channeled his energy into The Hunger Games franchise.

Despite their separation, Hemsworth maintained that they would “always be best friends” because of their “powerful connection.”

So it came as no surprise when the couple secretly rekindled their romance last year, with Cyrus once again wearing her engagement ring. But now fans think that the couple may be hiding something else…

Yesterday, Cyrus shared a snap of herself posing in front of some birthday balloons with her 73 million followers on Instagram.

The casual photograph shows the Hannah Montana star wearing a baggy, loose-fitting grey t-shirt with her slender legs exposed as she smiles at the camera surrounded by silver balloons spelling out her name.

The picture, taken by 27-year-old Hemsworth, prompted many fans to speculate that the Wrecking Ball singer is pregnant. The comments section became saturated messages of congratulations and confusion, as fans debated if their hero was with child.

Cyrus, aware that the image showed her looking more rounded than usual, cryptically captioned the cute picture, only fuelling further hysteria among her fans, “So close to b-day time! Stoked for a day full of Tofurkey & loved ones! Ain’t it ironic? #VeganTurkeyBaby”

Cyrus has been busy investing all of her attention into the thirteenth season of The Voice, where she is a mentor alongside Maroon 5 frontman, Adam Levine, singer Jennifer Hudson and People magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’, Blake Shelton.

Cyrus’ busy schedule has seen her take time away from the stage, but now fans are wondering if this was a strategic move to enable her to have time to focus on motherhood. She certainly has chosen some figure concealing outfits whilst on the show!

Earlier this month an “insider” told NW Magazine that Cyrus and Hemsworth were “putting together a nursery” in their $7.7 million Nashville mansion.

“There’s no word on if she’s actually pregnant yet, but she wants to be – and they’re having a great time putting together a nursery,” the source said. “They’ve already narrowed down which crib they want. Miley loves the idea of kitting it out with great vintage pieces and is trawling Pinterest for inspiration.”

The star, who once told Rolling Stone that cannabis was “the best drug on Earth”, has caused a lot of controversy over the past few years.

From that performance with Robin Thicke to her brazen appreciation for illegal substances – she once called MDMA a “happy drug” and smoked, what appeared to be, a joint on stage whilst accepting her award for Best Video at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2013.

Her tiny, near skeletal frame, also caused a lot of debate with many fans who were worried that the singer was starving herself.

However, since reconnecting with Hemsworth the Party in the USA singer has appeared to return to a more healthy size. So could people really just be mistaking her #VeganTurkeyBaby for a real baby? Watch this space!

Meanwhile, the happy couple is yet to confirm if they have made their marriage official. Rumors have flown recently that the pair married in secret, while others suggest they’re waiting so that Miley’s dad can officiate the marriage.
