The custom tailored suit wearing comedian is the person you feel you could turn to in a time of trouble even though you’ve never actually met her in the flesh. The kind soul who you know is always going to put a smile on your face when it hits 3pm on a weekday, the figure who somehow convinces celebrities to divulge their deepest darkest secrets to the nation, somehow convincing them they’re having fun whilst doing so.

Nevertheless, Ellen’s down-to-earth persona is not without its bite. While the recipient of Obama’s Presidential Medal of Freedom is always there to convince us all to become better people, it doesn’t mean she won’t resort to dirty tactics in order to get her message of goodwill across. This was clear when she called out a member of her talkshow audience for stealing this week.

For a segment on The Ellen Degeneres Show the dancing prankster invited audience members to personally select a single item from the gift shop to mark their visit in order and celebrate her 14 years on air. Her instructions were clear and simple: One item per person. Yet unbeknown to her visitors, a secret hidden camera was set up in order to test the audience’s honesty. While most of them passed with flying colours, one badly behaved woman was caught red-handed and named and shamed by none other than Ellen Degeneres herself.
