America might not have a monarchy, but throughout the country’s colorful history there has been a different ruling family for each decade. Be it the Rockefellers, Kennedys, Clintons, Kardashians or Bush family, America has always looked for leadership in their most successful clans.

And that is no different with the Robertson family, who found their fame in the smash hit reality series, Duck Dynasty. They’re an unlikely bunch who don’t particularly fit the typical mold. For example, whilst they may have a healthy bank balance, they’re not glamorous, frivolous or flamboyant. In fact, they’re quite the opposite. Yet, they have become one of America’s most loved families.

But despite their five-year reign over reality television, the Robertson family have remained humble.

Duck Dynasty‘s fourth season premiere attracted an audience of 11.8 million, meanwhile the fourth season premiere of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which featured Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s wedding, only garnered 3.2 million views.

Located deep in the state of Louisiana, they are many miles from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood or New York, where most of America’s leading families have their bases. And whilst Duck Dynasty have raked in $80 million in advertising alone and $400 million in merchandise sales, the Robertsons are still committed to running their family business, crafting duck calls for hunters.

This grounded attitude is the reason why the Robertsons are so relatable and why they are still so popular more than a year after Duck Dynasty‘s final episode aired.

Thanks to social media, the Robertson family are able to stay connected to their fans and provide updates on their lives. And it was via Instagram that they recently revealed some exciting news.

Taking to the photo-sharing website, Rebecca Lo Robertson, the eldest daughter of Willie and Korie Robertson, announced that she and her husband, John Reed Loflin, are expecting their first child.

In a post which has gained more than 80,000 likes in 24 hours, Rebecca informed her 483,000 followers that a new member of the family was on the way, due in January 2019.

In a series of videos showing the gleeful reactions of the Robertson family, Rebecca explains: “We are having a human baby.”

The Robertson family unofficially adopted Rebecca when she was 16 years old. Born and raised in Taiwan, Rebecca came to the Robertson family as an exchange student who did not speak a word of English.

Over the course of the following year, Rebecca became a true member of the Robertson family, prompting them to invite her back again for her senior year. It was then that Korie Robertson admits she became “one of ours”.

Rebecca still has a mother in Taiwan, who visits her occasionally. Tragically, her father passed away when she was 11 years old.

Willie and Korie have three biological children, John Luke, Sadie and Bella, as well as their three adopted children, Will, Rebecca and Rowdy.

Talking about their decision to adopt, Korie said:

“My Bible teacher adopted and just really, really talked about how important it was and how that what God calls ‘true religion,’ is taking care of widows and orphans and that imprinted on my heart then, Willie and I were dating at the time and I told him I wanted to adopt and he was all in from the very beginning. There was no hesitation on his part either. So, it was just something we felt called to do really early on.”

“It’s an expression of our faith. God’s been so good to us,” Willie told the Dallas News in 2017, echoing Korie’s words.

“Children are never easy,” Korie added. “But they’re always worth it.”

With that said, there is no doubt that the Robertson family are very excited for this latest addition. Maybe this could be the start of a Duck Dynasty spin-off show? We can only hope!
