08 Dec DJ Who Assaulted Taylor Swift Paid His $1 Settlement In An Incredibly Rude Way
Anyone who takes an interest in entertainment news will know that earlier this year Taylor Swift was overcome with emotion after successfully countersuing former DJ David Mueller of sexually assaulting her.
The assault occurred back in 2013 at a pre-concert meet and greet. According to the 10-time Grammy winner, while taking a photo together, Mueller lifted up her skirt, entirely without her consent, and groped her bottom.
This is the photo which Swift confessed to wanting to be kept from the public:
Just days after Swift’s management team reported the incident Mueller was fired from country radio station KYGO. But professing his innocence, Mueller decided to try and sue the pop star for defamation of character.
After losing the initial defamation lawsuit, Swift countersued him for the assault. She won the lawsuit earlier this year, and months later, Swift has finally received her settlement from Mueller in a way that many have deemed disrespectful. Mueller has always insisted that he never assaulted the singer-songwriter, and it appears that he still feels wronged by the verdict.
The Colorado-based DJ not only tried to sue Taylor Swift, but also Swift’s mother Andrea and their radio handler Frank Bell for defamation of character, and it then emerged that he was seeking $3 million in damages, claiming that their allegations and actions had sabotaged his career.
Below is a sketch of Mueller on the stand during the trial:
During the trial, Swift was quoted as saying that she is not critical of her bodyguard, “I’m critical of your client sticking his hand under my skirt and grabbing my ass.”
Ultimately, the judge dismissed the $3 million lawsuit as there was no evidence to suggest that Swift was guilty of defamation.
