05 Feb Did This Super Bowl Commercial Just Confirm A Long-Held ‘Game Of Thrones’ Fan Theory?
Now that we have over a year to wait for the final season of Game of Thrones, fan theories are everywhere. Ever since the end of season seven, fans of the hit HBO show have begun to speculate about what will happen during the Great War between the living and the dead.
This has involved looking for easter eggs in the past seven seasons, many of which have already foretold things to come.
Littlefinger, for example, foreshadowed every death in season four when, after pushing his mother, Lysa, through the moon door, he said to Robin Arryn, “People die at their dinner tables, they die in their beds, they die squatting over their chamber pots.”
And, as we all know, Joffrey was poisoned at his wedding, Shae was murdered in her bed, and Tywin encountered a crossbow on the toilet.
So, with a year of waiting to fill up, Game of Thrones fans have been putting their brains to use and speculating whether some of the show’s longest-held fan theories will come to pass in season eight – including the possibility that Tyrion is actually a Targaryen.
The first hint of this possibility came in season six when Tyrion encountered Daenerys’ dragons, Rhaegal and Viserion.
Despite it being in their nature to roast him to a crisp, they let him say in their presence unharmed. While this could simply be a case of the dragons recognizing that he was there to help them, it could also be the first hint of his true lineage.
Now a further hint that Tyrion might be a Targaryen has come in the form a Doritos commercial.
