16 Jun Couple’s Tragic Final Phone Calls to Family While Trapped in Grenfell Tower

The Grenfell Tower fire, a colossal blaze that ravaged through a tower block in West London, is the latest in a long series of tragedies to strike the UK’s capital in recent months. On June 14, the 24-storey block of apartments caught fire during the night, and many residents were caught unawares and trapped inside during the raging inferno. Hundreds of firefighters and around 40 fire engines were summoned to the scene.

The death toll currently stands at 17 people, although police investigators and firefighters suspect that many more residents are likely to have perished in the blaze, since a total of approximately 600 individuals were suspected to have inhabited the building at the time.

The family of one young, sadly deceased couple has gone so far as to make public the last message they received from them, shortly before their deaths.
