Couple Left Speechless As ‘The Wedding Singer’ Crashes Their Big Day (And The Photos Are Amazing)

Of all of the roles that Hollywood’s favorite funnyman, Adam Sandler, has injected life into, his portrayal of Robbie Hart in The Wedding Singer may still be one of the most memorable and best-loved.  Who can forget the scene where he goes into full-on meltdown mode or his rendition of ‘Love Stinks’.

Acting as a love letter to the 1980s, the movie has everything you need for a good nostalgia-fest in front of the TV; cringe-inducing tunes, bad suits, and even worse hair.

Who remembers this iconic scene? You totally couldn’t do this on an airplane today:

But what you wouldn’t expect, a good twenty years after its release (do you feel old now?), is for the Wedding Singer himself to pop up in the background of your actual wedding photos. Yes, the Wedding Singer became a Wedding Crasher for one Canadian couple.

Wedding photographer Sana Belgot was having a perfectly ordinary working day, capturing on camera the love shared by Alexandra Steinberg and Kevin Goldstein, when the trio noticed a rather familiar face walking past: Mr Adam Sandler.

It turns out, the actor just so happened to be having lunch with his family in the same location in Montreal where the couple were getting hitched.

The bride, who is a huge fan of the comic, apparently gave Sandler a wave and beckoned him over, and he was only too happy to get involved: “We told him we’re huge fans, we love his work, we’ve watched all his films,” Kevin Goldstein told the BBC.  “He replied, ‘Good, I’ll take some photos then – mazel tov!’” And that’s where the fun began.

Dressed in a pair of red shorts and a baggy white t-shirt, and equipped with quite the stylized ‘tache, Sandler was quite the contrast to the bride and groom in all of their finery.

One Reddit user even commented: “Insanely rich, walks around looking like he works for taco bell”, which I can kinda see, now they mention it.

But the mismatched outfits weren’t going to stop anyone from seemingly recreating Romeo and Juliet. The question is though, which of the two is his love interest?

This one has got to be the best of the bunch though – I’m not sure who looks more happy, Sandler or the bride and groom?

Having built up a nice little bond, the happy couple invited Sandler and his family to join them for the rest of the day: “My wife invited him to the wedding – he couldn’t make it, but she was ecstatic, absolutely over the moon. We couldn’t believe it.”

Describing Sandler as “the nicest guy”, the groom said: “It made our photos and wedding that much better.”

Although the happy couple jetted off to Italy on their honeymoon soon after the big day, a friend of theirs posted the photo to Reddit where it quickly went viral, being up-voted over 27,000 times.

The photographer herself also revealed her excitement at the experience, sharing photos on Instagram with the caption: “About last Sunday… My bride & groom bumped into @adamsandler, and that was amazing! Everything can happen in #montreal !”

Apparently, Sandler, who lives in Los Angeles, was in town because he was shooting his new film Murder Mystery alongside actress Jennifer Aniston. The movie, which will is being made for Netflix, also stars fellow comedian David Walliams, Brit actress Gemma Arterton.

Sandler will play a New York cop who takes a European holiday with wife Jennifer Aniston, only to find themselves tangled up in the middle of a murder mystery during a dinner party. On Thursday, the cast headed out for a real-life dinner party, with Walliams tweeting a sweet photo of the gathering.

Most brides would balk at the idea of an uninvited guest turning up at their wedding, but if anyone’s going to crash your special day then a Hollywood star with a cracking sense of humor has got to be a prime candidate.
