02 Aug Conor McGregor Responds To Mayweather’s Surprise Boxing Glove Instagram Post

Here we go guys, the circus has rolled back into town and the never-ending barrage of smack talk has begun again.

Floyd Mayweather’s fingers were still warm from his recent boast that he would go down a glove weight to fight Conor McGregor, when the Irishman has responded from out of nowhere. Initially taking to Instagram a matter of hours ago, Mayweather boasted that he would happily fight with 8oz gloves, as per McGregor’s repeated requests to do so.

The Dubliner is used to wearing 4oz, fingerless gloves when fighting in UFC and continuously complained during the promotional tour about the weight of the gloves that the two fighters would have to be using during the boxing match. McGregor’s beef lay with the fact that the pair would have to wear 10oz gloves, rather than 8oz, due to them fighting in a higher weight division.

However, while we all thought the build up had died down a bit, and that both fighters were locked away preparing for the multi-million dollar fight, Floyd posted the following image online for his 16 million followers and captioned it with some fighting talk.

“Don’t believe what you hear in the media. Don’t believe what you hear on blog sites. If it’s not coming directly from me, then it’s not true. I’m telling McGregor, “Let’s fight in 8 oz gloves”. McGregor can fight in any brand he prefers or chooses. I’ll be wearing 8 oz Grant gloves. Whatever advantage McGregor needs to feel more comfortable in the ring, I’m willing to accommodate. Let’s give the boxing and MMA fans what they want to see.@grantworldwide @mayweatherpromotions”
