02 Aug Chloë Grace Moretz Bites Back At Kim Kardashian After Receiving Savage ‘Gift’ From The Reality Star
Now, I don’t know about you, but I was always taught that it was very important to act my age. In addition, I was brought up to believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and thus, engaging with those who have a differing view is not only a monumental waste of my time, but a sure way to make me look stupid and ignorant.
Now, that’s the way I like to try and live my life, and it may explain why I am where I am today. Maybe if I had a little less respect for myself and those around me, I could be an international star with millions of dollars in the bank and hoards of fans invested in my every move. Y’know, someone like Kim Kardashian.
At times, it can be difficult to believe that Kim is a 37-year-old woman with three children. Be it her very public feud with Taylor Swift (which began when her now-husband, Kanye West stormed the stage at the MTV VMAs in 2009. Kim didn’t begin to date West until 2012, so her involvement in the whole fiasco is a little confusing), or the time she had an unnecessary X-ray of her bulbous butt to prove that it’s colossal size wasn’t the result of implants, Kim is the true definition of a ‘diva’.
So when she got involved in a Twitter spat with child actress, Chloë Grace Moretz in 2016, nobody was really very surprised.
The bitter battle began in March 2016 when Kim tweeted a now iconic selfie of her nude body in a mirror in her Calabasas mansion with the caption: “When you’re like I have nothing to wear LOL.”
The snap quickly gained a lot of attention, mostly negative with several Hollywood heavyweights chiming in to condemn the reality star for her sexualized stunt.
Bette Midler, P!nk and Moretz were all quick to comment on the rather tasteless snap. Then just 19-years-old, Moretz typed: “@KimKardashian I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than-”
Now, given that practically everything that Kim and her family do creates some sort of controversy, you’d think that the California-born reality star would be no stranger to criticism. At the very least, you’d like to hope that a grown woman who has made her fortune by simply being provocative wouldn’t engage in a Twitter spat with a teenager. But, alas, she did.
This isn’t the first time that Kim has found herself in hot water over her provocative selfies…

Taking to Twitter – the medium of choice for blasting your enemies in Tinseltown – Kardashian broadcast the following message:
“[Let’s] all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is. your nylon cover is cute boo.” (Referencing Moretz’s December/January 2016 cover shoot for Nylon magazine in which the young actress appears to be naked under a carefully placed bomber jacket. It was later clarified that she was wearing a bodysuit for the shoot.)
Kardashian, who currently has 58.5 million followers on Twitter, then just sat back like a real-life Regina George and watched the likes roll in on her post.
Clearly humiliated and intimidated by Kardashian’s response, Moretz stayed silent. That was until she was quizzed about the drama by Glamour magazine. Opening up about the incident, she explained:
“My mom took the most offense to it because it was girl-on-girl hate, and Kim didn’t come back with an educated response on body confidence. It was aggressive, and also it was incorrect. I don’t have 45 million followers or a TV show that follows my life. But people know who I am. I pride myself on having opinions, and I don’t express them in snarky ways toward people.”
Now, several months passed in which the whole situation was forgotten. Well, by everyone but Moretz and Kardashian (the queen of holding a grudge), who no doubt spent this time awkwardly avoiding one another on the red carpet.
But, just before the drama could be deemed irrelevant, Kim threw another spark. The second phase of her attack came on Valentine’s Day 2018 when she sent bottles of her own perfume to her “haters”.
In a clip posted to Instagram, the reality star – who’d just welcomed her third child, Chicago West, via a surrogate – revealed the names of those who she deemed to be her “haters”.
On the list were all those who’d minorly and majorly criticized Kim, including Sharon Osbourne, Wendy Williams, Taylor Swift, Blac Chyna, Piers Morgan, and, you guessed it, Chloë Grace Moretz.
Keeping things classy, Moretz chose not to comment on her Valentine’s Day gift from Kardashian. However, when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live to promote her latest movie, The Miseducation of Cameron Post, she was inevitably asked about the saga.
“I want to know, what did you do with the Kim Kardashian Valentine’s Day perfume that you received?” asked a caller from Chicago (ironically the name of Kim’s third child).
Keeping her response diplomatic and very “Miss World worthy”, Moretz – who is now 21-years-old – said:
“I never saw it. I literally got a video of it from my publicist. They’re like, ‘They sent this so we just kept this.’ I was like, ‘OK. Cool.’ But…Thanks?”
No doubt that isn’t the response that Kim was hoping for. Given her taste for the spotlight, it is safe to assume that Kim had intended for the gift to cause offense and generate her some headline space.
It’s a rather petty example of a celebrity feud, one which both parties are likely regretting their involvement in. But, one thing is for sure, Chloë Grace Moretz won’t be on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians anytime soon.
