06 Dec Chester Bennington’s Autopsy Report Has Been Released

The world was shocked in July when it emerged that Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington had taken his own life. The 41-year-old had been open about his battles with depression and addiction and had seemingly been doing well in the months prior to his death.

Now, five months on from the singer’s untimely death, the findings of a coroner’s report have revealed that the father-of-six was not under the influence of drugs when he died, but he did have some traces of alcohol in his system despite having been sober for six months.

E! News obtained a Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office report which revealed that the singer displayed a “presumptive positive” for ecstasy, although further tests led the coroner to conclude that he had not recently taken drugs.

The report also revealed that the singer had been found near an empty bottle of Stella Artois and a half-full glass of Corona.

Taces of Bennington’s fingernails were also found under his iPhone, and his wife, Talinda Ann Bentley, revealed that this reflected a habit the singer engaged in when he was anxious.

The report maintains Bennington’s wife told the police that he “would have suicidal ideations after consuming alcohol” and that an “apparent biography” that he wrote was found in his bedroom. She also claimed that in 2006 he threatened to commit suicide.

Bennington, who was a pioneer of the nu-metal genre, was found dead in the home he shared with his wife in Los Angeles. Tragically, he committed suicide on the 53rd birthday of his dear friend and Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who also took his own life in may of this year.
