22 Jul Cecil The Lion’s Son Xanda Fatally Shot By Trophy Hunters
When it was revealed that Cecil The Lion was shot and killed two years ago, there was an outcry from people calling for trophy hunting to end. Cecil was found beheaded and skinned near Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, and Walter Palmer, a dentist from Minneapolis, was revealed to be the culprit. Such was the anger about the incident across social media and in Palmer’s hometown, he was forced to close his surgery for a number of weeks after protesters consistently vandalised it.
Cecil left behind a family of six cubs, with Xanda, a male, being the oldest. However, it has sadly been reported that Xanda has met the same fate as his father, and has been killed by another trophy hunter. Xanda was shot and killed outside the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, according to lion guardians at the park.
