However glamorous and cool extreme sports and stunts videos look, my natural timidity in the face of risky manoeuvres vastly outweighs the prospect of an adrenaline boost and a cool video. So as awesome as it would look to be filmed jumping from great heights, back-flipping into the ocean or base-jumping from skyscrapers and cliff edges, I would rather watch other people do it from the safety of my own home.

That’s not to say I could pull it off in the first place, as even the more stylistic stunts require a lot of skill and practised technique to go with the bravery. One man who does this sort of thing for a hobby and a living is the Russian-born Alexander Tikhomirov, the filmmaker, travel blogger and coasteering daredevil.

Tikomirov, whose work is all over social media platforms, has a video diary on Youtube with over 280,000 subscribers, his top video hitting nearly four million views, and his Instagram has over 430,000 followers. But surprisingly enough, Tikhomirov’s biggest viral sensation was not necessarily for the right reasons.
