As a parent, there is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing your child in distress. Sadly, it’s an inevitable part of the job. The only thing you can do is try and prepare them for this cruel world that we inhabit.

One parent who is doing just that is Dan Bezzant from Rigby, Idaho. The father of seven-year-old Jackson isn’t only teaching his own son fundamental life lessons, he is imploring with parents across the globe to educate their children on the importance of kindness.

Dan’s mission began after Jackson returned from school one day in floods of tears having been called “ugly” and a “monster” by three older boys whilst he was innocently eating his breakfast.

Luckily, on that occasion, a teacher was on hand to intervene and protect Jackson from the bullies. But that didn’t make it any easier for the first-grader, who has long been the subject of taunts in the schoolyard as a result of his appearance.

Born with Treacher Collins syndrome, a rare condition which affects one in 50,000 people, Jackson is heartbreakingly no stranger to bullying.
