The definition of the ideal female body has consistently changed over time. A hundred years ago, voluptuous women were more beautiful because they were thought to be more virile, and the ideal female body type has fluctuated between slim and curvy ever since then.
Now, one body positive model has made an important point about retouched photographs on social media.
Twenty-six-year-old La’Tecia Thomas is a model and makeup artist. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, she now lives in Los Angeles, and she has opened up on social media about how going from a size two to a size 12 has changed her life for the better.
She is pictured below in one of her candid makeup-free selfies.
“I’m definitely a lot happier than what I used to be – and even if I were to lose weight now, I know I’ll be in a better place because my mind is in a healthy place,” La’Tecia revealed on The Morning Show in Australia. “And that’s very important.”
Speaking about her much slimmer frame, pictured above, the 26-year-old said, “I was insecure, I compared myself to other women, constantly put myself down and never felt good enough, I’d rather be caught dead than seen in a swimsuit.”
So, with such an improved attitude towards her natural form, La’Tecia wanted to make an important point when she discovered that photographs of her in a swimsuit and lingerie had been photoshopped beyond all recognition.
