Banker Accidentally Flew To Vegas After Nobody Realised He Had The Wrong Ticket

You often hear stories of someone who has gone to the pub for a pint and ended up in somewhere like Ibiza or Tenerife. It’s usually an epic tale of drunk decision making that has hilarious results and everyone ends up laughing about it in the end. However, it’s pretty rare that you hear a story of someone boarding the wrong plane by accident and then being “treated like a criminal” due to the ineptitude of the airline staff.

British businessman, Samuel Jankowsky, 29, was trying to fly back to Essex from Cologne but ended up in Las Vegas, 8,500 miles away from home. He says that his boarding pass was checked three times by airline staff, and that he only realised he was going the wrong way once he checked his in-flight tracker.

Samuel says that he was treated as a “common criminal” by US immigration officials who threatened to detain him for not having a visa.

Speaking about the experience, Samuel says:

“When I got on the plane I did think it was a big plane for a short flight, but I didn’t worry about it. I put on my headphones and went to sleep. When I woke up I saw that we had passed the UK.

“I asked the person next to me what was going on and he said: ‘We’re flying to Vegas’. I said: ‘Oh f***! Can we turn the plane around?’ I didn’t even know Eurowings flew to Las Vegas.”
