If you’re someone who suffers from insomnia, you will know the value of a good night’s sleep.

Not being able to sleep can be tortuous at times, while the rest of your body is tired and ready to switch off, your brain keeps whirring away, replaying embarrassing moments in your mind or deciding that it is the perfect time to analyse every mistake you have ever made, and then beat yourself up about them.

There is a wealth of information and advice online about how to get to sleep easily, and let’s be honest here, most of them are a load of BS. While I do believe that having a cool room with fresh air coming in helps, I don’t buy into the rumours that the 4-7-8 breathing technique or counting sheep will help you fall asleep, as you will be too focused on making sure you’re doing it correctly and that will end up keeping you awake for longer.
