Arrogant Contestant Gets First Question Wrong On ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’

We all like to pretend that we know more than we actually do, it’s part of being human. Our desire to be omniscient at all times is the reason why we can’t stop shouting answers at the television during a quiz show and why we click that link which reads: “Take This Test To Find Out If Your IQ Is Better Than Average”.

In the comfort of your own home, you can be the ultimate quiz master, because nobody need ever find out that you got a question wrong on Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?. You can climb that precarious ladder up to the $1 million on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and imagine how you’d spend the big winnings despite the fact that you got three questions wrong along the way.

But when the cameras are rolling and you’re on the plinth with a limited time to choose your answer, the situation is very different. No amount of pub quiz triumphs can prepare you for it.

That was something that one hopeful Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant learned the hard way when he arrogantly waltzed on stage to cooly collect the top prize. A self-confessed “nerd”, the man boasts about his intelligence with a nod to the fact that he’s just graduated from medical school.

By this point, the audience is preparing themselves for something magical. Could he be one of the few to claim the $1 million? If his fighting talk is anything to go by, then yes.

But what happened next was truly embarrassing. Watch the video below to feel the full effect of the cringe-worthy fail…

Sadly the plucky chap didn’t even manage to make it past the first question. Awkwardly he provided the wrong answer to quite a simple question. It’s a miracle he managed to pass through medical school with a thought process like that!

Although, in his defense, the question he was presented with has been met with a fair deal of criticism. Many believe that it was misleading and awkwardly asked, especially for the $500 round.

What do you think? Was it the question that is to blame for this huge blunder, or should this guy have spent more time browsing BuzzFeed than his medical books?
