When the 2017 New Year dawned, Ariana Grande was no doubt excited for what lay ahead. Having spent the entirety of 2016 basking in the glory of her hugely successful third studio album, Dangerous Woman, the pint-size pop star was set for superstardom.

It seemed logical to assume that her Dangerous Woman tour, which commenced in February 2017, would be one of the defining moments in her career. Having sold 875,000 tickets, which generated a reported $71 million, the lavish world tour was to be a fiesta for Grande fans.

And it likely would have been, had tragedy not struck on May 22, 2017, when a suicide bomber killed 22 Grande fans as they left the Manchester Arena shortly after the show had finished.

Of the 14,200 people who attended the concert 800 were injured. The youngest victim was an eight-year-old girl, who became separated from her mother and sister after the bomb was detonated.

As a result of the incident, Grande suspended the tour until June 7, helping in the meantime to organize a benefit concert to financially assist those who’d been affected by the attack.

The One Love Manchester concert, which was held on June 4, featuring stars such as Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Liam Gallagher and Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, helped to generate $23 million for the bombing victims and their affected families.
